That's a Wrap 2025! More knitting inspiration in 2026.
It looks like 2025 is almost in the rear view. The needles have been inspired to create many wonderful projects - and rejoiced in the shared creation of many more with my students and crafty friends. My favourite designers have been impossible to keep up with and my head spins with all the yarn world creativity.
I’m full of ideas (and open to yours) about classes and teaching in 2026. In addition to my regular workshops, I have plans for new (and repeating) series classes. Some of these are open now for bookings - or opening in the future. But in case you want to plan your calendars, I can share some dates with you now and will keep you posted when classes are opened for sign ups.
I will be teaching the following series at Fiber Circle Studio in Petaluma - it has become my home away from home and I really love being a wee part of this amazing place.
First up is an idea born of taking sewing classes with the incomparable Deborah Wong. In Deborah I found a fellow fiber arts teacher with the same approach to making garments. Classic pieces that fit and flatter the maker in a way that reflects their personal lifestyles and tastes, taught in an encouraging and supportive way.
Deborah is teaching a capsule wardrobe sewing class series - and I shamelessly appropriated the idea for a companion sweater capsule wardrobe series, in which we will make the perfect-for-you timeless sweaters. It is possible to take either Deborah’s or my - or both - capsule garment classes at Fiber Circle Studio and be prepared to strut your stuff this spring.
The dates for the Sweater Capsule are Jan 10, Feb 7, March 7 and April 4 from 2-4pm. Explore the patterns, concept and sign up here.
I will also be running a repeat of the Cardigan class from Jan - April to accommodate the waitlist (THANK YOU for your support for this class!!!) but if there is still enthusiasm for more cardigans, please let me know or sign up for the waitlist at Fiber Circle Studio - and we can keep going. With so many lovely cardies out there, I look forward to planning a #2 series with some different choices perhaps.
The other classes on the calendar with firm dates, but not yet posted:
Curious Constructions: In this series we will explore some curious, ingenious and mind blowing construction. And not just for the technical puzzles - but for the unique way these singular designs have been created that could not achieve the same results any other way! September 19, October 17, November 14 and December 5 from 2-4pm.
First Fitted Sweater: This is a more accurate description of the very popular class-formerly-known-as First Knitted Sweater. In this series, the goal is understanding how to create sweaters that fit you in the way you want them to and where to easily make changes in your patterns to make that happen - potentially starting with your very first garment. August 29 (30 minute private), September 5, October 3, November 1, November 21
WIP: A completely NEW addition: Heirloom Baby Knits. In this series, I want to focus on the knits that become Heirlooms because they are loved. Not only beautiful, but practical, useful and charming pieces that are accepted and used by both parents and children. The ones that make it into ALL the photographs and have them begging for more.
In closing this email, I want to thank you for reading it to the end (!), for joining me along the knitting way in 2025 and always supporting me and my teaching with your generosity and enthusiasm. You inspire me to carry on exploring my own path and knitting along with you all in 2026. Stay tuned for more details on these and other developments as 2026 rolls out around the knitting tables.
I wish you all the very best kind of holidays for you and your beloveds. Stay well and care for each other. I hope to see you soon.
With love and sincere gratitude. Cheers.
