Enjoy a deeply creative day of shopping, designing and knitting together in the hands of Lily Turner and Jaki Canterbury. This workshop is designed to engage your inspiration on many levels. The guiding principle is to stimulate your memories and emotional attachment into creating a fabric - ultimately becoming a practical project bag to treasure in your every day life.
Enjoy a good breakfast (we highly recommend The Esteban Restaurant at Casa Munras) before meeting in the Antonio Room at Casa Munras at 9:30am.
We will be walking to slowfiber headquarters to select materials for our bags and then returning to Casa Munras for design, stitching and lunch on the patio. You are also encouraged to start thinking about bringing items that have been treasured (Grandma’s handkerchieves?) that might be incorporated into your bag. Bags will be machine sewn together with their linings as a knitting circle gathers and needles get clacking.
There will be a related knitting project as part of our afternoon and without revealing all the treats - start collecting beautiful scraps of fingering yarns …..
We close at 5pm.
What’s Included:
Beverages, snacks and a delicious and nourishing luncheon!
Two INCREDIBLE teachers and an exclusive small workshop experience - space is very limited for this one.
Materials you select at slowfiber
A complete and finished lined linen bag (you will create the exteriors!)
A knitting project that incorporates your scraps of beautiful fingering yarns + Wishbone yarn and exclusive pattern
Added Bonus:
Lily will not be ‘popping up’ her yarn anywhere else on the West Coast this visit, but we will have them available to sell at this event, so first dibs for participants. (Oh and top secret hint …. there just might be some Spincycle involved).
If you would like to extend your time in Monterey, or you are flying in for this workshop, rooms can be booked at Casa Munras here which includes a 15% discount.
