We continue to build our understanding of the fiber resources in our Fibershed with two One Day Retreats in October that explore how that fleece that we admired in the spring turns into yarn - and how the colours are created. Dyeing and milling are processes that have a deep impact on the supply chain and the environment as well as producing the materials that we love to use in our fiber crafts. Join me on these two excursions to find out more about how yarns are developed right here in our own backyard.
We will spend the day with Brooke Sinnes of Sincere Sheep in her dye studio in Napa. Brooke will lead us to a deeper understanding of the process - and we will dye our own mini skeins in a hands on exploration!
We will take break for lunch to enjoy some Napa food goodness as Brooke introduces us to her favourite neighborhood cafe!
$250.00 includes everything - yarns, supplies, lunch and instruction. Bring yourself (maybe a friend too!) and spend a Fall day in Napa with us - learning and having fun!
We met some of the shepherds and their sheep in our Fibershed - and we knit with their farm yarns.
Now you want to meet Marcail Williams - the force behind every rivet and gear of Valley Oak Wool Mill. Marcail mills and produces yarn for many of our Fibershed members and local farmers in a Mill that has served the community for years.
Come and see what happens when that fleece takes a journey through Marcail’s hands (and antique machines) to become yarn (and other fiber products).
$180.00 Lunch is included
