STITCHING STORY BAGS
A WISHBONE / SLOWFIBER RETREAT DAY
MONDAY OCTOBER 6, 2025 9:30am - 5:00pm MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA
Guided by Lily Turner of Wishbone Yarns and Jaki Canterbury of slowfiber, we will gather for a day of deep creative exercise where we will create a memory project bag and enjoy a knitting circle together.
Our day will begin at 9:30am, meeting at Casa Munras for introductions and a guided inspiration to support your material-gathering ahead.
We will head over to slowfiber together where we will have the chance to explore the treasures there for materials to make our bags.
After our ‘shopping’ experience, we return to Casa Munras for lunch and the design and stitching of these materials into the stories and memories that have been evoked.
As Jaki assembles and finishes a final bag, Lily will lead us into a knitting circle to round out the rich and nourishing creative day.
This special event is hosted by Casa Munras in the historic district of Monterey. Casa Munras was established in 1824 and been offering continued hospitality ever since. It pays homage to the Spanish Heritage of the region and offers a wonderful chance to explore the surrounding areas on the Monterey Peninsula and stay in a special place. There is a wealth of activities and natural beauty in the area and it would be a great excuse to add a getaway, should your calendar allow.
